Bariatric Gastric Artery Embolization - How Will I Feel?

Bariatric Embolization - What is Embolization?

Embolization is defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as: 

  1. the process by which or state in which a blood vessel or organ is obstructed by the lodgment of a material mass (as an embolus), pulmonary embolization or embolization of a thrombus.
  2. an operation in which pellets are introduced into the circulatory system in order to induce embolization in specific abnormal blood vessels

This second definition is what we mean when we are talking about bariatric embolization.  This kind of embolization  is a highly effective method to control bleeds in emergency settings, and less invasive then open surgeries. Therefore, embolization procedures result in fewer complications and a brief hospital stay.
